What we do

Cogniscore scores functional mushroom and nootropic supplement brands on how completely they publicly disclose what is in their products. We do not score product quality, safety, or efficacy — because we do not independently test products. We score what brands tell you, and what they can independently verify.

A brand that publicly discloses a verified beta-glucan percentage, extraction method, country of origin, and a full Certificate of Analysis from an accredited lab scores well. A brand that does not disclose this information scores lower — not because their product is bad, but because consumers cannot independently verify its contents.


The problem we solve

Two functional mushroom products can appear nearly identical on a label — both saying “500mg mushroom extract.” One might contain a fruiting body extract with 40% beta-glucans. The other might contain mycelium grown on grain with 1–5% beta-glucans. You would have no way to tell the difference from the packaging.

Beta-glucans are the primary bioactive compounds in functional mushrooms — the reason the clinical research exists. Cogniscore surfaces this difference consistently, transparently, and at scale.


How it works

  1. A scraper agent collects product data from brand websites weekly.
  2. A scoring agent applies the rules in the public methodology to generate a score for each product.
  3. A content engine generates the product page text using the scored data.
  4. Pages are published and updated automatically. The methodology itself was written and approved by a human and is published in full.

Independence and commercial relationships

Cogniscore is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any brand listed. Where CTA buttons appear on this site, they are partner links that direct visitors to a brand's own website. Any commercial relationships do not influence scores. A product's score and position in organic results are determined solely by applying the published methodology to publicly available data.

Corrections and disputes

Brands can submit corrections with supporting documentation. The correction process and evidence standards are documented in the methodology. All submitted documentation is published publicly. We do not accept evidence submitted under NDA or confidentiality.
